This is our last stop in Thailand before heading to Cambodia. Thailand has been AMAZING. There is still so much we didn’t get to do so I will definitely be back!
We travelled to Koh Samui from Koh Tao by ferry which cost us 500 baht each and took about 3 hours. Thai people are very relaxed so it is rare that anything ever leaves on time – always allow extra time especially if you are travelling to get a flight! Similar to previous journeys there were people on the ferry trying to book us into a taxi for 250 baht per person but when we got there we got a pick up truck taxi for 100 baht each, so don’t be fooled!
We stayed in the Chaweng area of Koh Samui in Chill Chaweng hostel. This was perfect for us as it was cheap and in a great location 5 minutes from the beach and about a 10 minute walk from the strip. The beds were comfy and the wifi was good so I would definitely recommend it as a budget friendly option. Chaweng beach is really nice, very clean and there are lots of water sports you can do although they are quite expensive.
Koh Samui is the most commercialised out of the three islands. There were people constantly coming up to us trying to sell us stuff on the beach. There are also so many trucks blaring Muay Thai fight advertisements and there are a lot of western restaurants. We ate in the Chaweng Night Market which did really good food but was about double the price of the night market in Chiang Mai. ( budget about 200 baht for dinner here)
The Ark bar towards the end of the strip is really cool. They have pool parties everyday from 2pm which are really good and it’s a really good place to go at night too!
Mu Ko Ang Thong National Marine Park is supposed to be incredible here! Unfortunately we didn’t have time to do it but I’ve heard its stunning so definitely check it out if you have time!
Hope you enjoyed this post, let me know if you have any questions.
